Course overview
The objective of the OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Early Childhood Education is to develop learners' understanding of a wide range of topics relevant to early childhood development theories. The focus is on understanding developmental patterns and sequences in children's development, and how context affects children's progress. Learners engage with foundational theories and models of child development, and contemporary theory that explores emerging trends in early childhood education.
Learners study how young children develop through being active in the world around them, how to create environments which support learning, current pedagogical practice, and how to adapt provision to meet individual needs. Other topics include personal, social and emotional development, play-based learning, cognitive milestones, working with parents and families, identity formation, emotional regulation and supporting children who need additional help.
Successful completion of this qualification will allow learners to progress to further study in Early Years professional settings.

Entry Requirements
• Typically aged 18 and above
• Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent qualification
• GCE Advanced level in 3 subjects or equivalent qualification
• Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme)

Certification
The Diploma is issued by OTHM, the awarding organisation. Courses 4U is an Accredited Centre for OTHM qualifications and the Centre Number is DC2009448. See a sample certificate issued by OTHM. Please note that OTHM does not issue printed certificates but an e-certificate, to avoid piracy and forgery. As a learner, you can order a printed version from the OTHM portal on receiving the details.
Progressions
Successful completion of the OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Early Childhood Education allows learners to progress to further study in Early Years professional settings, or into employment.
OTHM rates this qualification as equivalent to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree programme. For more information visit the OTHM University Progressions page.

Assessment
All units within this qualification are assessed and internally quality assured by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. There are no examinations in this course. The qualification is criterion referenced: to achieve a pass for a unit, learners must provide evidence that they have met all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria. OTHM qualifications are not graded, so each unit is awarded a Pass or Fail.

Step 2: Course 4 U will issue a Conditional Offer Letter
The offer letter has details of the Bank payment and how to make payment online via the secure sage pay system.
Step 3: Registration with awarding organisation
As the registration process is completed, several emails to set up the course logins will be sent within the hour.
Step 4: Online Induction
