The OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Early Childhood Education aims to deepen learners' understanding of child development theories and how they impact children’s progress. The course covers developmental patterns, sensory exploration, and creating supportive learning environments. Learners study personal, social, and emotional development, cognitive milestones, play-based learning, and the role of families. It also explores identity formation, emotional regulation, and supporting children with additional needs. Upon completion, learners can progress to further studies in Early Years professional settings.

Entry Requirements
Learners are likely to meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent qualification
• GCE Advanced Level in 3 subjects or equivalent qualification
• Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience
• Centre will determine your English language proficiency if you are not from a majority English speaking country

Progressions

Assessment
All units within this qualification are internally assessed via assignments and externally verified by awarding organisation. There are no examinations in this course. The learner can therefore achieve a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Fail for each unit based on the quality of the work submitted and the assessor’s judgements made against the criteria provided.
Enrolment Process

Step 2: Course 4 U will issue a Conditional Offer Letter

Step 3: Registration with awarding organisation
As the registration process is completed, several emails to set up the course logins will be sent within the hour.
Step 4: Online Induction
