Course overview

The objective of the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care
Management qualification is to equip learners with the underpinning knowledge,
understanding and skills required for a career or further study in the health and social
care sector at a managerial level. The programme enables learners to demonstrate
their skills by producing evidence from their work or training activities.
Learners will study level 4 and 5 units, worth 120 credits per academic year with a
total credit value of 240 credits (equivalent to the first 2 years of an honours degree).
The Level 4 units lay the foundations of learning by providing an introduction to
contemporary Health and Social Care topics.
The units combine both theoretical and practical knowledge in the profession and will
develop and enhance knowledge and skills in the areas of equality, diversity,
professional development, patient assessment, resource management, health and
safety, risk assessment, and communication.
The Level 5 units give learners the opportunity to progress in specific subject
occupational areas. Learners will develop and enhance knowledge and skills in the
areas of effective partnership working, managing the care of vulnerable individuals,
safeguarding, health education, team management, professional supervision
practices and how to complete a research project.
Successful completion of this qualification will equip learners with industry-specific
and practical skills, enabling them to successfully apply their knowledge in the
workplace, enhance their career prospects and allow progression to further study.
Modules
The OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management
qualification consists of 12 mandatory units, 240 credits, 2400 hours Total
Qualification Time (TQT) and the recommended Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for
this qualification is a minimum of 1200 hours.
To achieve the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care
Management, learners must achieve 240 credits in total, of which 120 credits are at
Level 4 (6 units) and 120 credits are at Level 5 (6 units).

• Professional Development and Academic Writing Skills (20 credits)
• Communication in the Caring Professions (20 credits)

• Resource Management in Health and Social Care (20 credits)
Level 5: 6 Mandatory units
• Working in Partnership in Health and Social Care (20 credits)
• Managing the Safeguarding and Protection of Vulnerable Individuals (20
credits)
• Health Education and Promoting Wellbeing (20 credits)
• Team Management in Health and Social Care (20 credits)
• Professional Supervision Practice in Health and Social Care (20 credits)

Entry Requirements

These qualifications are designed for learners who are typically aged 18 and above.
The entry profile for learners is likely to include at least one of the following:
Relevant Level 3 Diploma qualification or equivalent qualification
GCE Advanced level in 2 subjects or equivalent qualification
Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience (learners must
check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the
programme)
English requirements: If a learner is not from a majority English-speaking country,
they must provide evidence of English language competency. For more information

The Diploma is issued by the OTHM Qualification- Awarding Organisation. UK

Progressions

Successful completion of the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social
Care Management, provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic
progressions including the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Management.
As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications
and Examinations Regulation), learners are also eligible to gain direct entry into Year
3 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme. For more information visit the

Assessment

• Assignment drafts must be submitted within 1 week of the completion of the unit delivery by the lecturer.
• Submission is to be emailed to learnerwork@course4u.co.uk
• All submissions are to be done in Word Format
• You should receive an automated response that the assignment has been received
• Lecturers provide feedback within 2 weeks of submission of the draft
• Please ensure that assignment declarations are submitted with the assignments.

Enrolment Process

Step 1: Complete the Online Enrolment form
Kindly upload - Proof of identity (Passport or Photo Drivers Licence), previous qualifications, CV and work experience letters if applicable for exemption or Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL).

Step 2: Course 4 U will issue a Conditional Offer Letter

The offer letter has details of the Bank payment and how to make payment online via the secure sage pay system.

Step 3: Registration with awarding organisation

As the registration process is completed, several emails to set up the course logins will be sent within the hour.
